This was my first meetup discussion experience, I enjoyed the banter and sharing of ideas.

Good stimulating conversation on the topic.

Meh. Some got a bit too emotional and ideological with their opinions and condemnation of others. In the first group, there seemed to be more reflection and people were more open with their experiences, nuanced, and less inclined to prove others wrong or shame them. There were a few people at the meeting who didn't speak because they were uncomfortable of the reactions. Those who had strong opinions on this made their opinions known and it became less of an open exploration of the topic. Was a lively discussion. I don't think it needed to be that way though. Ideas could have been exchanged without the climate created of the moralizing.

Always a good time at IM events. Jim chooses intriguing subjects and it was great to hear everyone’s opinions.

A lot of movies came to mind for me during this discussion. I'll recommend a few of them that comment on the subject: Scenes From A Marriage (1973, Bergman) She's Gotta Have It (1986, Lee) Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011, Burkin)

Stimulating discussion with nice people. Thanks Jim!

Great discussion. However with so many people, it was more of a time of sharing ideas rather than building on other's ideas.

well, except for the S&M confusion... no, seriously, it was interesting to hear all the viewpoints, and especially to get a sense of how much to heart or not people take these things, and other "magical formulas". great discussion!

It was a very good movie. It kept you guessing and wondering what was going to happen next. Perhaps to a fault as there were times where you didn't have a clue where the story was going. But it was well done with a lot of surprises at the end.

Excellent movie and interesting conversation after. A wonderful way to spend a rainy Friday evening.

The movie was o.k., a little too realistic for me. I would have preferred more drama and less science, truthfully. I really enjoyed the conversation at Algiers after the film.

I thought the movie was well-done and realistic -- the only scientific "faux-pas" in retrospect was the fact that it was not made clear how the virus would make the jump from the contaminated blood on the chef's hands to a human virus transmitted by respiratory means (don't touch your face!!). Hope everyone gets a flu shot this year!!! Thanks, Jim, for organizing this!

Good movie, very realistic about the possible people reaction to a worldwide pandemic. Mi first meetup with this group, very nice and excellent discussion after the movie.

I loved the speaker's premise, so the Cambridge Forum part of the evening was great. The Meetup organizer had bowed out beforehand, suggesting that we "find each other" (as I recall, perhaps incorrectly). A thoughtful Meetup member posted a logical meetingplace and some suggestions for gathering afterwards, but this somehow didn't happen, though 3 of us did get together. I'm reminded of post-movie and other post-lecture gatherings where the organizer carried a "Meetup" sign, we saw it, and all was well. The presence of a sign, no matter how hastily constructed, would have saved the second half of the evening. But, also, I'm guessing that Meetup members didn't read the last-minute posting by the organizer and the thoughtful member.

Good speaker, mostly civil discourse w/audience. Didn't meet up w/any group members, and feel like I missed out on the social aspect. For future reference; how do group members find each other?
